Betty Fletcher Memorial Travelling Scholarship



Important description
The scholarship was established in 1992 as a memorial to Betty Fletcher, foundation patron of the Friends

of Antiquity and generous benefactor of the Department of Classics and Ancient History, and maintained

by the annual income from the Betty Fletcher Memorial Trust Fund. The scholarship is intended to enable

a meritorious student in classics and ancient history to travel to Greece, Italy, Asia Minor or any other

place that was part of the civilizations of Rome or Ancient Greece, for a period of at least 4 weeks.

Eligibility and other criteria
General information

The scholarship is open to any student enrolled in a course offered or a program supervised by the School

of History, Philosophy, Religion and Classics, who has not previously held the scholarship. The scholarship

is awarded on the basis of the applicant’s academic record, personal qualities and commitment to one or

more of the disciplines of classics and ancient history.
