PhD Studentship: Development of a biomimetic peptide/polymer self-assembling system for tissue engineering

Important description
Institute of Bioengineering, Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) The QMUL Institute of Bioengineering is a new cross-faculty initiative bringing together over 40 academics from the faculties of Medicine & Dentistry and Science & Engineering. The Institute will provide a focus for ground-breaking research aimed at the development of new medical technologies to meet the key healthcare challenges of the 21st century. The institute of Bioengineering at QMUL is currently advertising for 8 Multidisciplinary PhD studentships. The project looks to investigate the interaction between self-assembling peptides and structural proteins to find optimum conditions for co-assembly into robust and hierarchical 3D structures. This novel material platform would then be designed to provide specific bioactive signals that can elicit biological responses and can be tuned to target the regeneration of different tissues.
