Eligibility and other criteria
The University invites applications for admission to full-time research studies commencing in September 2014. Studentships will be available for selected applicants*.
Research supervision leading to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) is offered in the following Research Institutes:
Science, Engineering and Information Technology
Biomedical Sciences, Built Environment, Computer Science, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Nursing and Health Research, Psychology
Business and Management, Research in Social Sciences, Sports and Exercise Sciences, Transitional Justice (Law)
Arts and Humanities
Art and Design, Arts and Humanities, Irish and Celtic Studies, Media Research
Master of Research (MRes)
A one-year full-time programme leading to the award of Master of Research is offered in the Faculties of Arts and Life and Health Sciences. Awards may be available for selected applicants.
How to Apply
To be considered for entry, applicants should hold, or expect to hold by 15 August 2014 a first or upper second class honours degree in a subject relevant to the proposed research topic. Applications must be submitted using the University online admission system www.ulster.ac.uk/applyonline .
The closing date for the receipt of applications for full-time study and associated awards is 28th February 2014.
Interviews will form part of the selection process and are likely to be held during March/April 2014.
* DEL and VCRS Awards may be directed to some areas in preference to others on the basis of the number and quality of applications received and the University’s strategic approach to the support of research activity.
