PhD position in biophysics with X-ray spectroscopy
Tasks: Catalytically active metal centers in biological proteins and synthetic model complexes will be characterized using spectroscopic methods (in particular X-ray spectroscopy at synchrotron radiation sources) and theoretical approaches (density functional theory)Â In the frame of the Berlin Excellencecluster ""Unicat"", to gain information on the molecular and electronic structures and their influence on the catalytic reactions.
Eligibility and other criteria
Preconditions for hire: Diploma or Master degree in (Bio)Physics, (Bio)chemistry, or Biology.
Desirable: Knowledge in spectroscopic methods (favourably X-ray spectroscopy), in protein biochemistry or molecular biology, good compurter skills, willingness to deeply dive into the biophysical topics, working in the team, appropriate health conditions to participate in measuring periods at synchrotrons (night shifts).
